Over the past decade, Vic Shing has not sought compensation for the majority of his work, which has documented and bore witness to the transformations within Hong Kong’s independent music scene through videos and still images of live shows. All relevant video equipment and storage hardware have been purchased out of pocket. Each gig produces at least a two-hour long video recording and around 600–700 images, and a year’s worth of performances requires over 1TB of data. Your contribution will allow the Music Surveillance team to upgrade its recording equipment and file storage system, and ensure that the regular Music Surveillance website is regularly maintained and updated.
